Effects of School-Based Nutrition Education Intervention in Preschool Children and Their Teachers: An Experimental Study

Objective: This study aimed to examine the effects of healthy nutrition education on eating habits and anthropometric measurements preschool children nutritional knowledge levels their teachers. Material Methods: Sixty educated in a kindergarten Ankara 6 teachers were included this follow-up single-center study. Researchers applied separate questionnaires including ''Food Preference Image'' for 'Nutrition Knowledge Level Scale Adults' Comprehensive that had different contents was given Measurements pre-education, 1 (immediate post-intervention), 2 (one-month post-intervention) compared with Paired Samples t-test, Friedman test, Wilcoxon signed ranks McNemar test. Results: The percentile body weight height by age increased (Z: -3.297; -2.524 respectively, p<0.05) pre-education. Eating behaviors, food consumption, preferences improved (p<0.05). Mean scores Nutrition Adults higher at than pre-education (F=64.809; degree freedom=2; p<0.05). Conclusion: Although presented short-term, started eat healthier, attitudes improved. studies longer intervals should be conducted large samples more centers ensure these are due measure effectiveness intervention.
